Aikido in 1935

Jeff over at Fitness at 50 sent me this video. It's the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, in 1935. Enjoy!

  1. Very interesting video. I like the one against wooden rifle with bayonet most, 'cause it is primarily forward thrusts where aikido's signature stop, turn and throw technique works best. And applied to kendo, it is (straight downward) chop, turn (L or R), chop, turn (L or R), chop, rather than chop, forward (or backward), chop....very interesting to watch!

  3. There was a rumor that Morihei Ueshiba spent some time in China, learning various internal martial arts.
