The 2012 Lenten Challenge is Over!

The 2012 Lenten Challenge is over! How did you do?

  1. Rick,
Sorry to say, not as well as I'd hoped.

Didn't accomplish what I wanted with my core stance practice but had easy time keeping up on my other ancillary exercises.

Thanks for posting this challenge! It's a great reminder!

  2. My comment is "Arghh!"

I originally took up The Challenge "without concern," since I seem to have the regular practice thingy down pretty well. But I thought, "This time, I'll do X-tra," and set myself the task of walking 2 miles a day, in addition to the usual disciplines. Piece of cake, right?

That's where the "Arghh" comes in.

Over the 40 days, we had some genuinely rugged weather, medical emergencies with critters, snowfall, power outage for 3 days (no light, heat, water, etc.) -- little details like that. I could not seem to catch the rhythm of daily walking.

I did manage 30 of 40 days, so that's 60 miles, which is something. I feel stronger in my legs and feet, and my time improved some. Thanks again for the Challenge!

  3. I made it to Thursday night and got struck with bronchitis. It became quite a dilemma for me. Eventually I decided the lesson to learn was when it is right to stop training. Training is worthless if it does not improve us. Swinging a sword gasping for breath helps no one.

38 days, last 2 bed ridden.

I learned the Batto Ho series of iaido. I ordered myself my nice training iaito (training sword) as a reward for my dedication to a new art form.

I vow another 40! (once I can stand up again)

  4. The Lenten Challenge isn't all that easy, is it?

  5. Life has a way of intruding on our well intended plans. There are a few lessons in that.

I'm glad that you're feeling better.

    Ganbatte!
