Ba Gua Zhang Double Headed Spear

A friend send me this. The double headed spear seems like a natural fit for a BaGuaZhang fighter, doesn't it?

  1. interesting weapon, but certainly not a totally safe weapon for the novice. For example, I can see the guy thrusting from his right side and then (probably chasing his opponent who retreated) exchanged his grip by passing his weapon in the front (i.e. his end pointed-spear CROSSING his own belly in close distance!) to the left and did a left thrust. I would suspect in a real-scenario, only the most proficient guy can manage this weapon well without hurting himself in the process. Needless to say, mine is only arm-chair speculation, so don't take it serious...:):)

  2. Dangerous weapons - I remember watching a friend of my brother fooling around with triple-sticks. First one end hit him in the forehead, then the other, knocking him out.

From what I remember of my own experimenting with the nunchucks as a young man, this is how I would use them in a self defense situation: I would hand them over to my attacker and watch him beat himself to death with them!

  5. In terms of modernized double-headed qiang, I preferred one pair of Desert Eagles.
