Dao De Jing, #35: Peace

One of the world's classics in literature is a slim volume of some 5000 characters known as the Dao De Jing. It is also one of the foundations of philisophical Daoism. A translation of the whole text may be read here.

Here is Chapter 35: Peace

If you offer music and food
Strangers may stop with you;
But if you accord with the Way
All the people of the world will keep you
In safety, health, community, and peace.

The Way lacks art and flavor;
It can neither be seen nor heard,
But its benefit cannot be exhausted.
