Oooh, how that idea chafed me!

Nowdays we walk amongst X-tremes, and not just confusion -- sometimes danger, as well. I've mentioned here before the tendency to become what we behold; that things that fire together, wire together. And while it is probably a sign of health to engage with life around oneself, and not withdraw, the qualities of 'discernment' and 'discrimination' come in very handy. We know the value of filters in our vehicles, but fail to install them in ourselves.

It's ironic (but not funny) that we live in a time literally AWASH with information aimed at helping us, yet somehow so many folks can't seem to connect with it. Perhaps they underestimate how proactive one needs be?

For many years I have tried to move through ordinary life as if through an extended set of Tai Chi. You know the drill: steadily, carefully, attending to detail, slowly, intentionally, with a lot of deflecting and blocking and sticking with things. And this has helped me. The other thing is, when everyone around you is moving at a frantic pace, if you yourself are moving in slow motion, you become basically invisible to them. That can be handy as well.

walthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01388218390016612051noreply@blogger.com
